Christian Food Storehouse set to re-open Monday; volunteers needed Sunday

(Riverton, WY) – After a fire in mid-May this year damaged the Christian Food Storehouse in Riverton at 219 N. 3rd St. E., the food bank is now poised to re-open on Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed on Sunday, July 28, to help with cleaning and other miscellaneous tasks from 3 to 6 p.m. If you want to help, please bring your own cleaning supplies, asked owner Cinde Pfisterer.

Fire damage to the Storehouse was concentrated in one part of the building, but it impacted both the inside and outside.

“They still don’t know whether it was accidental or on purpose,” Cinde shared. “It was a smoldering bag of clothing that was set on a dresser, and the flame went inside the window.”

Following the fire, the Storehouse moved their food giveaways to the Set Free Church.

“The fire was on Saturday, and on Monday, we were there (Set Free Church),” Cinde said. “There was never a break in feeding the hungry.”

On Monday, the Storehouse will operate without power, so there will be no refrigerated items.

Cinde shared her appreciation for Legacy Foam Solutions and UpRight Construction. Both businesses have helped the Storehouse during this time.

Currently underway is a food drive put on by Wyoming Community Bank to help resupply the Christian Food Storehouse.

Donations can be dropped off at any Wyoming Community Bank location or at Wyoming Community Finance. From now until August 12, 2024.
