Good versus evil is a classic theme that will never expire in theatres or books. Why? Because it’s real. There are good versus evil spiritual battles going on in our world today. Sometimes, it feels like the bad guys are winning, but don’t lose hope, there is wonderful news.
Jesus already won! He defeated the enemy when he sacrificed His life on the cross for ours. Therefore, we have comfort and hope in Him. The threats and temptations will not be removed from our life, but there is hope in Jesus’s sacrifice for us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 tells us, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Spiritual warfare is not a new thing; the war of good versus evil is not new. Some of these spiritual warfare threats have been around for ages but are repackaged for our modern society.
Why do we encounter these battles? For our spiritual growth, to strengthen our faith, and to serve the kingdom. If you are serving God, you will encounter resistance. It may come in many forms. The devil will throw all he’s got your way to thwart your progress in serving God.
1 Peter 1:6-7 states, “In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
