Southern Kaduna Christian leaders say no to protest

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association, SKCLA, has said that although the region like any other part of the country is also experiencing hunger and harsh economic realities, it’s not wise to join a protest that might be hijacked by enemies of Nigeria to cause crisis which will jeopardise the healing process in the land.
Chairman of the Association and Vision Pioneer Throneroom Trust Ministry Kafanchan, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, called on the youths not to participate in the planned nationwide protest, but to allow total healing of the land after suffering several attacks in the recent past.

Kure made the call in an interview after a special Thanksgiving Service for elected
and appointed officers from Southern Kaduna by the Association in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria, Southern Kaduna Zone held in Kafanchan.

Apostle Kure appealed to the people to give the government more time to fix the decay caused by past administrations, “especially now that the current government at the Federal and State levels have started giving the people of Southern Kaduna hope and inclusivity in appointment and project execution.”

In his welcome address during the Thanksgiving service, the Vice Chairman of SKCLA and Catholic Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, explained that the programme with the theme, “the hands of thanksgiving and prayer” was deliberately organised to remind the elected and appointed officers from the area on the heavy moral burden they carry to represent the people.

“We invited you here today to pray for you and to chart a new path on how we can bring our people together so that we can align our goals, hopes and aspirations to the objectives of the modern-day politics which you are already actively involved in.”

“We are worried about the disunity that exist among you the political elite; a problem which we see as scandalous and has hampered the growth of our people. Our desire in this Service of Thanksgiving is to bless and entrust you into the hands of God for divine direction on how to manage these differences amongst yourselves and the political parties in Southern Kaduna,” he said.

The Guest Speaker and ECWA President, Reverend Dr Job Ayuba Bagat Mallam, charged the elected and appointed officers to be faithful in all they do, take their work seriously and chat a new course for the people of Southern Kaduna to give them a new lease of life.

Speaking on behalf of other elected and appointed officers, the Member representing Zango Kataf Jaba Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr Amos Gwamna Magaji thanked SKCLA for organizing the Thanksgiving and prayer programme, describing it as uncommon.
Amos said the development has further cemented their relationship as elected and appointed Representatives from one zone.
