Boni Mwaitege goes after peddlers of his ‘fake death’ rumours

For the better part of Monday, July 23, social media was awash with reports that Boni Mwaitege, a renowned gospel singer from Tanzania, had passed away.

Various online platforms claimed that Mwaitege was involved in a tragic road accident, leaving his fans shocked and confused.

While some clung to the hope that the news was false, others awaited official communication from his family.

In a timely update, the talented gospel musician has broken his silence, addressing the false reports.

In a video shared on the Tanzanian blog 5Star NewsTZ, Mwaitege assured his fans that the rumors were unfounded and that he was safe and well.

“I have come forward to speak with you about the ongoing rumors that went viral. I have had people try to hurt me and speak false things about me, but this one has forced me to come out and say. I have been ignoring the other things, but death allegations have forced me to come out and speak. My brothers and sisters are watching me, I am healthy and have not been involved in any accident,” Mwaitege stated.

He further urged his fans to help dispel the misinformation:

“It is just fake, and I am praying that you can spread the message that I am alive and kicking. I am yet to know who came up with such false information. I have seen other gospel musicians face the same. I’m going to take action on the matter. The next action will be by the government. I have informed President Samia Suluhu and her government will take action about the matter.”

His wife also denied the allegation.

Speaking to Millard Ayo, she said that her husband had arrived home safe after a journey from Kenya.

“Boni Mwaitege ni mzima kabisa ametoka safari kutoka Kenya na amefika nyumbani salama, amepumzika,” (Boni Mwaitege is alive and well, he just returned home from a trip to Kenya, he is fine and resting) she said.

Fellow artists also confirmed that Mwaitege was alive and well and wasn’t involved in any accident.

“The news all over social media that Boni Mwaitege is dead, is not true. Boni Mwaitege is in good health, he is not dead. I am requesting that you help spread the good news that Boni Mwaitege, the servant of God is not dead, he is alive. I communicated with him on the phone and we exchanged pleasantries. The report that he is dead is not true. He wasn’t involved in any accident and he has no plan of dying now,” the chair of gospel music in Tanzania said.
